Azure Lake Aug 12-13 Fly-In Canceled
The wildfire situation is still quite serious. Due to the smoke and low visibility over any routes through the BC Interior into Azure Lake, we have decided to cancel the fly-in. Other possible locations have been considered, but have similar problems. Keep tuned in for possible announcements of rescheduled AGM and/or fly-ins if the situation improves.
2017 AGM Fly-In Canceled!
Due to the severity and proximity of the current wildfires in the BC Interior, we have made the decision to cancel the 2017 AGM and Fly-in at the Flying U Ranch. Although the ranch is not currently threatened, it really is an emergency situation in the area.
Flying U Ranch will refund all deposits, but every member will have to contact them directly firstname.lastname@example.org. They will have the option of a refund or keep the deposit for a future visit.
BCFA is researching options for rescheduling the 2017 AGM, possibly in the Sept/Oct timeframe and we will let our members know via email and on this website.
The Azure Lake camping weekend fly-out is still scheduled for Aug 12-13, but we will keep a close watch of the wildfire and smoke situation and let you know if anything changes.
Thanks for your understanding.
2017 BCFA AGM July 14-16
Next summer we're going to Green Lake (near 70 mile house) at the Flying U Ranch. Maybe you remember the Flying Over Canada TV show. John Lovelace is managing the historic (150 yr. old) Flying U, & is making it better all the time. Rustic & comfy cabins, excellent dining room, quaint saloon, 60,000 acres to ride horses, either guided or self wandering (largest riding herd in Canada). Grass strip or sand beach.
Email: email@example.com & say you're coming for the BCFA AGM.

2016 BCFA Scholarship winner completes float rating
The BCFA directors are pleased to announce that Dominic Beaumont, last years 2016 "Freedom to Fly Floats in BC" winner, has successfully completed his rating last September with Fort Langley Air. In his own words he stated, "I feel so fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the BC Float Plane Association."
He helped out at the AGM and he has indicated his ongoing commitment to our association. He is currently working on his IFR and is planning on flying floats for a living.
Congratulations Dominic and welcome to the world of float flying.
